Today’s Where am I? really won’t be posted so much as a question as it is just an update. I’m spending the day hanging out around LAX waiting for my 9:15 pm flight to Athens, Greece. I’ve got a friend coming to take me out so I’m not sitting in the airport all day long - what a gal! The trans-Atlantic flight is just the tip of the iceberg as far as travel to my actual destination. I will arrive in Athens at 11 pm Wednesday, August 5th. Too late to do much else, I will check into the Sofitel, an on site airport hotel just outside the baggage claim doors. Thursday, August 6th after a (hopefully) good night sleep, I will find the X93 bus from the airport to the bus station in downtown Athens. It’s been two years since I have been to Athens, and even though I am not staying, I’m looking forward to being back in the city. The bus I am looking for leaves Athens at 12:30pm, and I have been advised that since I can not book tickets in advance, I should arrive early to make sure I get a seat - if I miss the 12:30 there is 4:45pm bus. Once on the bus, I will begin my four hour journey to Kyllini, Greece a port town in the Peloponnese, our base for the next 3 weeks.

At first I was doing everything I could to find a one way car rental from Athens to Patras, but now that I have settled on the idea of taking the bus, I’m excited to get going on this adventure. Next post will be from the Vigla hotel…
